Based on the NYT Bestseller by Ruta Sepetys, ASHES IN THE SNOW is the story of a 16 year old artist who is sent to the gulags of Siberia amidst Stalin’s brutal dismantling of the Baltics during WWII. It’s a harrowing and tragically underexposed piece of history, and one that I was pleased to help shed some light upon. The film was shot on location in Lithuania and went on to become that county’s highest grossing theatrical release of all time, even warranting a special premier screening with Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaitė, which I was honored to attend. Currently available on Amazon Prime.
